Why "Made in USA" Matters for Where Your Cat Sleeps
Cats sleep 12 to 16 hours a day — some seniors push past 20. That's more time pressed against the bed material than against anything else in your home, and exactly why cheap imported cat beds are a problem. The off-gassing foam smell, the undisclosed dyes, the polyester fill that clumps and flattens by month three — cats notice. They stop using the bed and go back to your laundry pile. Our American-made cat beds and mats are different. Every bed on this page is built in the USA by American Dog, a small manufacturer crafting beds in two proprietary lines — Furvana™ (cozy comfort) and Armor™ (chew-resistant) — with materials we'd put under our own cats.
Most bargain cat beds at the big-box stores are mass-produced overseas with thin polyester fill that flattens in months, sealed-pillow covers that can't be washed, and the kind of foam that smells "like a new car" for weeks. Our premium indoor cat beds are different. Every bed in this collection is:
- Hand-crafted in the USA by American Dog — not relabeled imports, and not foam shipped in a vacuum bag from overseas
- Built with Furvana™ or Armor™ construction — one for comfort-first cats, the other for multi-pet households with chewing dogs
- Designed with bolstered sides — the raised rim cats instinctively curl against for the security a flat mat can't give
- Made with removable, washable covers — throw the cover in the wash when the dander and hair build up, the bed keeps its shape
- Multi-species sized — pick the smallest size (XSmall or Small) for a cat or kitten; large breeds and dogs use the same bed family in bigger sizes

⭐ Our Multi-Species Pick: The 'Hope' Round Bolster Furvana™
Hand-crafted by American Dog — the only bed in our lineup explicitly named for both cats and dogs. The Furvana™ construction wraps a supportive foam base in a soft, plush cover; the bolster sides create the "nest" cats instinctively curl into. A portion of every 'Hope' bed sale supports cancer awareness — the bed itself is a quiet tribute to that mission. Available in pastel colors and the smaller sizes that fit cats and kittens.

Shop the 'Hope' Round Bolster Furvana™ →Two Bed Lines We Build Around
Every bed in this collection comes from one of two proprietary construction lines. For most cat homes, the Furvana™ comfort line is the natural pick — pick Armor™ only if your cat shares the bed with a dog who chews:
Furvana™ (Comfort Line)
Plush, soft-cover beds built around a supportive foam base. The natural pick for cats — the soft cover is what they want against their fur, and the bolster sides give the wrapped-up security cats love. Available in round bolster and crate-pad formats. Includes our 'Hope' edition (multi-species, cancer-awareness tribute).
Armor™ (Heavy-Duty Line)
Ballistic-fabric cover over the same supportive foam base. Most cats don't need this — Armor™ is built to survive chewing, and cats don't typically chew bedding. Worth it only for multi-pet households where a chewing dog might shred a softer bed. Same orthopedic support as the Furvana™ line underneath. Includes our 'F#ck Cancer' edition.
How to Pick the Right Bed for Your Cat
Cats are pickier about beds than dogs — if they don't like it, they'll just sleep somewhere else and the bed becomes furniture. Here's the framework we walk customers through on the phone:
1. Match the bed to where your cat already sleeps
Watch your cat for a couple of days. Do they tuck themselves into the corner of the couch with something pressed against their back? They want a bolster bed — the raised sides give the same wrapped-in feeling. Do they sprawl out on a sunny patch of tile or a windowsill? They want a crate pad — flat, low-profile, plenty of stretch room. The Round Bolster Furvana™ and the Crate Pads Furvana™ cover both styles.
2. Pick the smallest size that fits
This is the biggest mistake people make with cat beds. Cats don't want a big bed they can stretch out in — they want a smaller bed they can wedge into. The bolster sides need to actually touch their body to do their job. Go with the smallest size available for any cat under 12 lbs. Bigger cats and multi-cat households (where two cats might pile in together) can size up.
3. Furvana™ first for most cats
Unless you have a dog in the same household who's a confirmed chewer, the Furvana™ comfort line is the right call. The plush cover is what cats want against their fur; the Armor™ ballistic fabric is firmer and less inviting. Save the Armor™ line for households where survivability against a chewing dog matters more than maximum softness.
4. Don't forget the crate pad if your cat travels
If your cat goes in a carrier for vet visits or travel — or if you've crate-trained them — a soft pad inside makes the difference between "instant meltdown" and "tolerable." Our Crate Pads Furvana™ are sized for standard carriers and washable when the carrier inevitably needs a deep clean after a long trip.
How Our Cat Beds Compare to Bargain Imports
Cats spend more time on their bed than anywhere else — the differences in construction show up in how long the bed lasts and whether your cat keeps using it.
| What to Check | LibertyPaw American-Made | Typical Bargain Import |
|---|---|---|
| Where it's made | U.S. workshop — American Dog, hand-crafted | Overseas mass production, often unverified facilities |
| Foam | Supportive foam base, made in the USA, no off-gassing chemical smell | Foam that arrives smelling "like a new car" and flattens within months |
| Cover | Removable, machine-washable cover — Furvana™ (plush) or Armor™ (ballistic) | Sealed-pillow construction that can't be washed properly |
| Cat-specific design | Bolster sides for the wrapped-in security cats prefer; smallest sizes properly sized for cats | Generic shapes scaled down from dog beds; bolsters too shallow for cats |
| Hair management | Cover zips off for full machine wash — dander, hair, and oils come out | Sealed covers trap hair and dander; bed has to be tossed when it gets bad |
| Customer support | Real pet parents on the phone: 877-729-5789 | Drop-shipper email forms, slow responses |
| Mission alignment | 2% of every order to rescue dogs & veteran service-dog programs | Profit-only model |
Materials We Trust (and What We Won't Use)
Every bed in this collection is built around the same American-made foam core, with one of two cover constructions. A few of the details worth knowing for cat families:
Supportive foam base: American-made foam that resists flattening over time. For cats this matters less than for big dogs — cats are lighter — but it's what keeps the bed shaped year after year instead of collapsing into a pancake.
Furvana™ plush cover: Soft, cozy, machine-washable cover for the comfort line. This is the texture cats actually want against their fur. Wraps around the foam core and zips off for cleaning.
Armor™ ballistic cover: Heavy-duty ballistic-nylon used in tactical gear, repurposed as a bed cover. Most cats don't need this. Useful only in mixed-pet households where a dog might shred a Furvana™ cover.
Replaceable covers: Both lines have removable covers that wash and replace. The foam core lasts; the cover is the part that takes the wear and the cat hair.
What we won't sell: sealed-pillow beds you can't wash, shredded-foam fill that clumps and flattens, the cheap foam that off-gasses for weeks, or any bed we couldn't trace to a U.S. manufacturer.
🐶 A Note for Multi-Pet Households
If you have dogs too, every bed in this collection works for them. The Round Bolster Furvana™ and Crate Pads Furvana™ come in dog-sized variants (the same product, just bigger). Browse our full Dog Beds & Pads collection for the same Furvana™ and Armor™ lines sized for Labs, Goldens, and giant breeds up to XLarge (46″×36″). The product family is one continuous size run from cat-small to giant-breed-large — pick the size, the line is consistent.
For households where a dog chews bedding, the Armor™ line (including our 'F#ck Cancer' edition) is the practical choice even on the cat's bed — it'll survive a curious dog gnawing the bolster.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my cat actually use the bed?
The biggest predictor is matching the bed to where your cat already chooses to sleep. If they tuck against the couch arm, get a bolster (the raised sides replicate that security). If they sprawl on tile or windowsills, get a flat crate pad. Place the new bed where they already nap, not where you wish they'd nap. Most cats accept the bed within a few days when it's placed right.
What size should I order for my cat?
Smallest available size for most cats — cats want a bed they can wedge into, not stretch out in. The bolster sides need to touch their body to feel like a "nest." Size up only for cats over 12 lbs, multi-cat households where two might pile in, or if you have a Maine Coon or similar large breed.
How do I clean cat hair and dander out of the bed?
The cover zips off and machine-washes on a gentle cycle in cold water. Lint-roller the cover before you wash it to lift the bulk of the hair off, then wash with a small amount of detergent (cats are sensitive to fragrance). Air-dry or tumble-dry low. The foam core does not get washed — spot-clean with a damp cloth if needed.
Furvana™ or Armor™ for my cat?
Furvana™ (comfort line) for almost every cat household — it's plusher, softer, and more inviting to a cat than the ballistic Armor™ cover. The Armor™ line is meaningful only if you have a dog in the same household who chews bedding — in that case Armor™ survives the dog without compromising the cat's comfort underneath.
Are these safe for senior cats with arthritis?
Yes. The supportive foam base provides orthopedic-style support without being too firm for a smaller animal. Senior cats benefit from the bolster styles — the raised sides give a head rest and create a sense of security that helps anxious aging cats sleep deeper. Pick the smallest size that fits so the bolster touches their body.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes — we offer a 30-day happiness guarantee on every order. If a bed has manufacturing defects in the first 30 days, email shop@libertypaw.com and we'll make it right. (We don't cover damage from chewing on the Furvana™ comfort line — that's what the Armor™ line is for.)

Comfort & Safety Note
Inspect your bed regularly. Even a durable bed wears over time — check the cover stitching, the foam (it should still spring back when pressed), and the zipper if removable. Retire any bed with compromised structural support; senior cats especially can be hurt by sleeping on a flattened-out bed. Wash covers regularly to keep dander, hair, and oils from building up — this matters more for cats than dogs because of how much time they spend on the bed.
