  • ★Made in USA
    ✓21 Rotating Pins
    ✓1.25″ Extra-Long
    ✓Compact 6″ V-Head
Full-size rakes handle the back and sides — but mats love the places they can’t reach. The Untangler 6-inch extra-long-tooth mini rake, made in the USA (item T825mRXL), packs 21 free-spinning stainless-steel pins, each 1.25″ long, into a small two-row V-shaped head. The long pins get down to the skin through thick, dense coats, and the little head lets you work behind the ears, along the legs, under the arms, and across the belly with real control.

    Why pet parents love it

    • Detail work with deep reach — a compact mini rake with 1.25-inch rotating pins that gets to the base of a dense coat in spots a big rake can’t fit.
    • A Poodle topknot and doodle grooming rake — lifts and fluffs the topknot and teases small knots out of curly Poodle, Goldendoodle, and Labradoodle coats.
    • Less snagging on small mats — the two staggered rows of pins in a V pick a tangle apart a little at a time, and because every pin turns, it rolls past the hair instead of catching on it.
    • A gentle undercoat rake for sensitive areas — tumbled, rounded tips feel like a light massage, and many pets relax to the quiet whir of the spinning pins.
    • A softer, shinier coat — as the rounded tips move across the skin, they help carry its natural oils down each hair for a smooth feel and natural sheen.

Which pets is it best for?

Think of this dual-row mini rake for thick, dense coats as your detail tool — use it after a full-size rake, or alongside a comb, for the spots that need extra attention. Untangler recommends it for:

    • Curly & doodle coats: Poodles, Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, and Bichon Frises.
    • Long & silky coats: Yorkies, Shih Tzus, Havanese, Maltese, and Coton de Tulears.
    • Thick, dense coats: Golden Retrievers, Briards, Spaniels, and Terriers.

It’s gentle enough for light grooming on cats, too — and plenty of dogs simply enjoy it as a back scratcher.

    Why the tight spots matter

Mats rarely start in the open middle of the back. They form where fur rubs and folds the most — behind the ears, in the armpits, along the belly, and on the inner legs — and those are also the most tender places to groom. Left alone, a small knot keeps tightening, pulls at the skin, and can hold in moisture and irritation. A few quick passes in these zones a couple of times a week keeps little tangles from turning into big ones.

    How to use

    • Go light and with the grain — use short strokes in the direction the hair grows, starting in the outer coat and easing closer to the skin.
    • Work small mats from the edge — hold the hair near the skin so nothing pulls, then use the point of the V to loosen the knot from its outside in.
    • Fluff a topknot — lift the hair up and away from the scalp in gentle passes to separate and add volume.
    • Check with a comb — finish with a comb to find anything the rake missed.

Tip: If a mat is tight against the skin or the skin looks red or sore, see your veterinarian or a professional groomer — never cut mats out with scissors.

Rake, then comb: the finishing touch

Once the mini rake has loosened the knots and lifted out loose hair, a pass with the Untangler Professional Groomer Comb smooths the coat and confirms every tangle is gone. For faces and small dogs, the 5″ Pet Comb is the perfect partner.
